Impact Of Covid - 19
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on the world, with the most marginalised and impoverished populations being disproportionately affected. In addition to the economic impact, the pandemic has also had severe social impacts, such as a decline in access to essential services such as healthcare and education. The pandemic has also led to an increase in social tensions as people have become more desperate in the face of economic hardship.

Magic Spangle Studios has been a proud contributor to many development sector campaigns in partnership with some of the biggest names, including Heifer International. Having previously worked with Heifer, Magic Spangle Studios decided to support its ally in developing a documentary film free of charge under its corporate social responsibility programme.

Hatching Hope
The Hatching Hope project was a comprehensive initiative aimed at improving the livelihoods and nutrition of smallholder farmers in India. The project provided farmers with chickens, training on how to raise them, and access to markets. The chickens provided farmers with a source of income as well as eggs and meat for their families. The training helped farmers improve their poultry management practises, and the access to markets helped them sell their chickens and eggs at a fair price.
Production Process and challenges
i) Concept and Script Development :
In that phase, all available data was consolidated and analysed before being transformed into simple, easy-to-understand content pieces prior to the commencement of the on field production process. A script with a screenplay was prepared and shared with the client for approval.
ii) Moodboard/Storyboard Development:
The moodboard was prepared to give the overall look, feel, and mood of a project. It helps directors convey their vision to cinematographers, production designers, and others.
iii) On Field Shoot:
Once the shooting schedule had been approved, we immediately commenced work according to our approved scripts for the film. A dedicated team, consisting of a Director, Cinematographer, Drone Pilot, and other production crew, came together to capture visuals on location. However, owing to the remote nature of the site, we had to transport all our equipment approximately 3-4 kilometers, as vehicles couldn’t access the area. This challenge was compounded by the fact that the shooting took place during the peak of summer in April. The combination of scorching temperatures and direct sunlight, given that the majority of the location was outdoors, necessitated multiple retakes of various scenes, as the intense light and heat wreaked havoc on the crew. Despite these daunting obstacles, we managed to persevere and successfully obtained all the required footage.
iv) Post- Production:
At this phase all the Live Shoot Footage, Voice Over, Music & Sound Effects are put together and composited in the form of a film as per the decided format and platform.
